Justin Joseph Hall is an award-winning, multilingual Director and Founder of Fourwind Films and Quatre-Vents.  He’s worked as a lead creative on projects acquired by HBO and that received awards at The Emmys, TriBeCa Film Festival, & Brooklyn Film Festival.

A master of connotations, Justin is the son of two teachers from the Midwest.  His smooth, melancholic juxtapositions create beauty from chaos.  Due to filtering unceasingly through the history of cinema his work finds fresh space for audiences.  Consequently, in spite of coming to New York City alone he continues thriving 15+ years later.

As a Director, Justin evokes emotions and spurs new thoughts through fiction and non-fiction works.  Artist & the City (2021), his docu-series on creative careers, won 6 awards including the Audience Award for Best Series at YoFiFest.  Prologue (2020) is a surreal exploration of relationships and miscommunication winning Best of Awards at Manhattan Film Festival and Worldfest Houston International Film Festival.  He’s currently editing his first feature Frames of Reference, an education adventure encountering an addict teacher, a cowgirl, outlaws, transgender studies, & kids with guns.

Justin’s held positions as Editor for networks such as NBCUniversal, PBS, & History.  He helped pitch and develop the Axios (2018-2021) as Senior Editor for the Emmy-winning documentary series.  His mastery of post-production and the visual arts has awarded him opportunities to work for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Discovery, Major League Baseball, & BMW to name a few.

Justin edited Abuela’s Luck (2018) which was picked up by HBO and is now slated to be adapted into a full-length feature.


VISUAL ARTIST | Cinematographer, Photographer, Colorist

Justin’s shot with a lot of natural light and makes do with what the budget allows. He believes less in symmetry and believes shots state more and sit better with him when focal points lie further from center to tell the story with what is off-balance. He colors his own work.


SOUND ARTIST | Sound Design, Musician, Composer

Justin started playing keyboard at age 6, guitar at 7. saxophone at 10, bass guitar at 11, and wrote his first song soon after.


POST-PRODUCTION EXPERT | Post-Producer, Online Editor

Justin has spoken about workflow and the Post-Production process technically and creatively at HBO and the Catalyst Film Festival. He also speaks English, French, Italian, Spanish, & Portuguese and has worked in all of those languages for networks brands like Amazon, Pinterest, & L'Oréal.


FRAMES OF REFERENCE is Justin’s Upcoming Work

Should kids shoot guns in classrooms?  Should an addict teach children about substance abuse?  When should schools start to teach about identifying as transgender?  Frames of Reference give you access to perspectives on these and other education issues through ten-minute segments at seven international schools.

Diverse perspectives helping solve complex problems is at the center of all of Justin’s works.  In creating he states, “The execution of an idea is more important than the idea itself.”  With this mentality he hit the ground running into his career back in 2008. He’s directed a globally talented, high-value workforce from New York to Paris to Tokyo.
